ABOUT THE PROJECT

In this bold collaboration, The Accidentals partnered with Kaboom Studio Orchestra to transform twelve of their most beloved songs into sweeping, orchestral works. Together, the band and Kaboom’s Composer Team created new arrangements, recorded the tracks, and captured a lush, cinematic version of The Accidentals' signature sound.

The album, released July 29, 2022, includes fan favorites like "Mangrove," "Lady of the Lake," and "Michigan and Again," now reimagined with a full 40-piece studio orchestra. The project highlights the depth and adaptability of The Accidentals’ songwriting, brought to life by the powerful textures and layers of live orchestration.

Following the album’s release, the collaboration hit the road for a national tour, kicking off at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and continuing with performances at Mile of Music Festival, Wrigley Field, and other iconic stages. Each stop offered audiences a rare chance to experience The Accidentals' music like never before: elevated, expansive, and fully reimagined on stage.

Reimagined is more than a new take on old songs. It’s an experiment in creative partnership. It’s a celebration of what happens when independent artists and a fearless orchestra come together to build something fresh, alive, and utterly unexpected.

Reimagined didn’t stop at the studio. The Accidentals and Kaboom Studio Orchestra took their collaboration to the stage, bringing an all-new dimension to the music.

At every stop, audiences heard The Accidentals' songs stretched, reshaped, and elevated by the full force of a live orchestra. The tour offered rare moments where indie-folk met cinematic scale, and listeners were surrounded by the depth, drama, and intimacy of the music in motion.

From Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to Wrigley Field and beyond, the Reimagined Live Tour created spaces where fans could experience the songs they love in unexpected, unforgettable ways.

Reimagined: The Accidentals

From fall 2021 through summer 2022, Kaboom Studio Orchestra partnered with indie-folk trio The Accidentals to reimagine a collection of their original songs for full orchestra. Kaboom composers worked closely with band members Sav Buist and Katie Larson to create new arrangements that expanded the group’s sound while staying true to its emotional core. Students in Kaboom’s production, recording, and marketing teams contributed to every step of the process: from score development and rehearsals to engineering and promotion.

The album was recorded at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory and released ahead of a regional tour in August 2022, with twelve performances across four states. The ensemble performed in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin. For Kaboom musicians, the project offered a rare opportunity to participate in a professional studio album and tour, working side-by-side with career musicians to bring something entirely new to life.
