Kaboom Collective Wins Two Telly Awards for Original Documentary

Kaboom Collective is proud to announce that Kaboom Collective: Beyond the Stage has been recognized with two Telly Awards: Bronze in Student Programming and Silver in Film & Video Documentary. The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens, and this recognition highlights the creativity, professionalism, and artistic depth of the young artists who brought this project to life.

The documentary centers on the May 2024 collaboration between the Kaboom Studio Orchestra and acclaimed avant-soul group Mourning [A] BLKstar. Together, they produced a genre-defying live performance that explored the question, What does our future look like as a society? Through music, conversation, and collective expression, this project became a bold statement on possibility, identity, and imagination.

This film is more than a behind-the-scenes look. It's a portrait of a new kind of creative process—where students and professionals work side by side to shape culture in real time. Kaboom Collective’s education model blends production, mentorship, and artistic risk-taking to give young creators real industry experience.

Special thanks to Evan Haiman, Kaboom board member and producer of the film, whose vision and leadership were essential to the project.
